With the holidays here, many can fall into a slump with all the temptations of delectable foods that are offered around Thanksgiving and Christmas. We at Final Drill can be guilty of indulging in those tasty yet unhealthy snacks around the holidays. So because of all 2020 has thrown our way with quarantine snacks and holiday treats, we decided to assemble a list of guilty pleasure snacks, with a healthy twist, that will help satisfy any sweet craving.
1. Ants on a Log
This quick snack can be made in a matter of minutes. Make this sweet treat by spreading your favorite nut butter on celery or a banana, and top off with chocolate chips or raisins.
2. Mixed Nuts with Dark Chocolate
Mixed nuts can be high in fat but are extremely filling. Nuts also provide a balance of fiber, protein, and fat. Dark chocolate also can be linked to lower blood pressure and reduced heart disease in dark chocolate containing at least 70% cocoa. Perfect for an on-the-go snack as they can be stored at any temperature.
3. Frozen Banana Bites Covered in Dark Chocolate
These snacks can be great to help satisfy your sweet cravings. The banana and chocolate provide a sweet taste while being high in cocoa content and low in fats. For an extra crunch, you can always throw on some chopped up nuts of choice!
4. Fruit Sorbet
Many local grocery stores will sell this sweet treat in their frozen section along with other ice creams. While it may be tempting to simply treat yourself to regular ice cream, opt for a refreshing and tasty sorbet as a healthier option with fruit content.
5. Nut Bars
Homemade or store-bought nut bars can be a great way of getting fiber and protein in a crunchy and savory snack. If you're looking to satisfy a bit more of a sweet tooth, try throwing on some agave to take the sweetness level up a notch.
6. Fruit and Veggie Bars
If you want to make a homemade option, you can always blend or juice some of your favorite fruits and veggies, throw them in a popsicle mold and enjoy them after a few hours in the freezer. They will be a sweet little treat while consuming your daily nutrients. For an easy pre-made option, Outshine makes a fruit and veggie bar with low carbs and sugar with only 35 calories in a bar.
